Transfer Function Models for Multidimensional Systems

چکیده

Multidimensional systems describe relations between signals depending on two or more independent variables, like time and space. They are also called distributed parameter systems. The only conventional model for their description are partial diierential equations. This is in contrast to onedimensional (lumped parameter) systems, where a variety of diierent models including transfer functions is used. This paper extends the concept of transfer function models to multidimensional systems. They are useful for system analysis and as a starting point for the derivation of discrete simulation models.

Digest of IEE Coll. on Multidimensional Systems, London, 1998/225, pp. 1/1-1/7 TRANSFER FUNCTION MODELS OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL PHYSICAL SYSTEMS

Transfer functions models of linear systems are a well established tool for the design and analysis of one-dimensional systems. This is not the case for multidimensional physical systems, given in terms of initial boundary value problems. Here, the only mathematical description of widespread use are partial di erential equations. This contribution shows, how the one-dimensional transfer functio...

A Simplified Design of Multidimensional Transfer Function Models

Multidimensional transfer functions are an effective description of physical systems with time and space as independent variables. They allow to construct discrete models which are suitable for computer implementation. The derivation of multidimensional transfer functions is straightforward for systems with self-adjoint spatial operators. It is based on the application of suitable functional tr...

Transfer function models for the description of multidimensional physical systems have recently been introduced. They provide an alternative t o the conventional representation by partial differential equations. Multidimensional transfer functions are input-output models for physical phenomena with more than one independent variable e.g. time and space. They allow t o treat the eeects of initia...

Partial differential equation models for continuous multidimensional systems

The description of the continuous and discrete multidimensional (MD) models in current use has not yet reached the same state of maturity as for one-dimensional systems. To proceed in that direction, we investigate the connections between certain discrete partial differential equation (PDE) models (Finite-Difference Models, Transfer Function Models, MD Wave Digital Filters). The starting points...
